America after WW2

When I was a kid, it was just after WW2, and everyone was pretty happy, and the patriotic feel that permeated the country was wonderful. But a certain change had taken place. Women, who had always stayed home and been a wife and a mother, had become breadwinners, with a lot of freedom.

Now they were expected to stay home and go back to their earlier duties. This was not taken well, they were used to their own money, and doing as they pleased. This change caused a lot of problems, men who wanted their wives at home, and wives who wanted to do as they pleased. This was a time when the economy was good, and times were good. Many of those who had been in air craft factories found themselves working in retail and other jobs that had not existed during the war.

The war was over, but it had left a big change in America, divorce was common, women out and about, enjoying new experiences, were quite normal. We have never gone back to the wonderful time, prior to WW2, and that is a shame, that kids will never know what it means to play outside, instead of poking buttons on a toy.

Playing tag, hide and go seek, cork ball, marbles. Sorry kids, but they call this mess progress. I love this country, and when I see a parade with the flag, and no one takes off their hat, it hurts, because I remember, when love of country was primary in most of the country.

One person complaining can take away the rights of others, imagine, and once that works, there is no going back, now they want to rule your life, tell you haw to raise your children, what to eat and drink, kill a tobacco company, because someone doesn’t like smoke, and we just say OK, not realizing that once these rights are gone, goodbye.
